What support and assistance is available for an Indigenous person?
Government Financial Assistance
To encourage employers to take on Indigenous Australians, the Australian Government provides the following incentives:
Wage Assistance*
If you can provide ongoing employment for more than 26 weeks, you may attract:
Up to $6,600* for providing full-time work; or
Up to $3,300* for part-time work (15 hrs/wk min.).
Structured Training and Employment Project*
Available for employing five or more Indigenous job seekers in long-term projects. Funding is negotiated on a per project basis.
Youth Training Incentives
Employers who employ Aboriginals, Torres Strait Islanders or South Sea Islanders in Australian School-based Apprenticeships or traineeships, may attract an additional $4,000* in Queensland Government incentives.
