Cafe Busy Settling in at Mall
The community-focused business recently reopened its doors at its new central location following the closure of the old Brisbane St site in November last year.
BUSY BEAT cafe staff are busy settling into the beat of the Ipswich City Mall.
The cafe’s Community Services Team Leader Timothy Hope said the new location had rejuvenated the social enterprise cafe.
“We’ve got new cooking facilities and a new seasonal menu,” Mr Hope said. “We can make a lot more stuff to order, including pastas, and we also make fresh salads and fruit salads.
“All our cakes are now baked fresh on site as well, thanks to the new kitchen.”
He said the cafe was still dedicated to affordable pricing and offering a range of options. Carbonaras, chicken pesto and a range of other fresh made-to-order dishes are available for less than $10 per dish.
“The menu will change each season, because it’s based on the fresh produce we have available and what we can make with that.”
Mr Hope said the team at Busy Beat were eager to expand their services even more. “We’re looking at getting permission for on-street dining, which will happen soon,” Mr Hope said. “And another step is to expand what we do in terms of catering around the area.”
Mr Hope said Busy Beat’s recording studio would reopen around mid-January, before the official cafe launch in February. “We’ve opened pretty quietly to make sure everything’s in order, but we’re set for business now.”
