Indigenous Employment Solutions

BUSY works closely with organisations, businesses and communities to create and provide work opportunities for Indigenous Australians.

As a member of the Indigenous Employment Panel, BUSY At Work is contracted by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) to provide pre-employment training, mentoring and job placement projects to Indigenous Australians.

Our experienced Indigenous consultants assist employers with the skills and cultural knowledge necessary to provide sustainable employment opportunities for Indigenous Australians. In turn, they also work with the local communities to prepare Indigenous Australians to take up job opportunities and enhance their employment prospects.

Each project is individualised, taking into consideration local and regional community conditions and specific client needs.

BUSY has several innovative projects that are currently being delivered in Queensland. These include:

    • Dhugamin Indigenous Project – Hervey Bay

BUSY At Work provides mentoring for 30 Indigenous job seekers with the Fraser Coast Regional Council. On completion of the training BUSY places the trainees into full time employment within various industries.

    • Smashcare Project – Brisbane

Designed to recruit and train Indigenous job seekers for work in the panel beating and spray painting industry. Following a period of accredited and pre-employment training, BUSY works with Smashcare to source positions and support the transition to permanent employment and completion of apprenticeships.

    • Rockhampton Aged Care Project - Rockhampton

Working closely with the Sisters of Mercy Aged Care facility, BUSY At Work has recruited and delivered pre-employment training to 30 Indigenous Australians who have been placed into work in the aged care industry. This is supported by providing a tailored mentoring service for the first 12 months.

    • Aged Care / Hospitality Industry Project - Gladstone / Bundaberg

BUSY is working with local communities in the Gladstone and Bundaberg region to source and provide work opportunities for 14 Indigenous Australians in the Aged Care and Hospitality Industry.

For further information on these projects, or how BUSY At Work can help support your Indigenous people and programs, please contact our Indigenous Project Coordinator David Brown 0448 109 679.
