Ever since he was a young teenager Dane Mackie has always enjoyed tinkering with cars and watching the V8 Supercars on television.
“I love working on cars and couldn’t think of a better job to have as a full time career,” Dane said. While it hasn’t always been a smooth ride for the former Noosa District State High School student, the dream of becoming a motor mechanic is now well and truly alive after Dane secured a full time position as a Trades Assistant with Ken Mills Toyota in Maroochydore.

17 year old Jessie Cottell had plans to pursue a career in teaching but after learning about administration at school decided to sign up as a school based trainee. “I love learning new computer skills and definitely enjoying working around cars,” Jessie said. She works one day per week at Von Bibra Auto Village, Robina with a view to completing her training by the end of Year 12.

Australia’s unemployment rate is the lowest seen since March 2013 following an increase in employment during September.

The Bureau’s Chief Economist Bruce Hockman said the trend unemployment rate had been hovering in the range of 5.6 to 5.8 per cent for almost two years, but has now dropped to a four-year low of 5.5 per cent.
