Apprenticeship and job opportunities galore at Sunshine Coast Daily Careers Expo

Locals interested in pursuing jobs, apprenticeships or traineeships in Queensland made their way to the 11th annual Sunshine Coast Daily Careers Expo last week (July 18).

The event is the region’s most comprehensive careers, employment and training expo and had more than 150 employers, agencies, educators and employment trainers on display.

Visitors were able to conduct job searches at the expo, find more information on apprenticeships and tertiary studies, and take part in hands-on demonstrations.

Organisations featured at the expo include various Queensland universities, apprenticeship and traineeship providers, defence forces, government training providers and private education training colleges.

Budding apprentices were also able to try their hand at different jobs with Try’aTrade from WorldSkills Australia. This offered visitors the opportunity to try out their skills in a range of fields, providing a hands-on experience.

There were also seminars and motivational speakers at the expo, with exhibitors such as FIT College giving a presentation on fitness industry careers and the Australian Institute of Music speaking about career pathways in the music industry.

Motivational speaker Brandon Thompson of Graduate Programs Australia also delivered a speech about the role of technology in recruitment and how it has changed the way employers source and select staff.
