Busy Beat partners with LOVE BITES

Busy Beat will support an essential component of the upcoming program and will be utilising its state of the art recording studio to do so. The LOVE BITES program has had excellent success in NSW and will now be delivered to 350 Year 10 High School Students through community collaboration. The collaboration includes Busy Beat, Ipswich Women’s Centre Against Domestic Violence, West Moreton Women’s Health, Police, and Ipswich Youth Service. This will be the first time the course has been taught in Ipswich.

LOVE BITES commences at Bremer High School on 22nd August and is set to run over two consecutive weeks. Each course module is comprised of a morning and afternoon component, with modules being held 3 days per week. In the morning students take part in facilitated workshops to discuss domestic and family violence and sexual assault. Afternoon sessions offer students the choice of art, drama or music, giving participants a creative platform to express what they have learned in the workshops.

Towards the end of the course the best song will be chosen, and the students will be invited to record the tune at Busy Beat. This will be a fantastic opportunity for students who have never used professional recording equipment to learn the technology and processes involved. Mark Plumb, Busy Beat Recording Studio Advisor, will be guiding the students and ensuring their new single is a hit. Mr Plumb is on the planning committee for LOVE BITES and says “We hope that the success of the pilot program ay Bremer High School will see the course in the curriculum of High Schools right across Queensland”
