BUSY At Work and TAFE Queensland are pleased to announce that the free CareerMe Android version smartphone app is now available.
The app, which was previously only available on Apple devices, is designed to help young people plan career paths and find job opportunities.
BUSY At Work CEO, Paul Miles said BUSY At Work welcomed the support provided by TAFE Queensland.
“This initiative would not have been made possible without the sponsorship of TAFE Queensland who have always been a major supporter of the CareerMe app.”
“CareerMe has some great information for job seekers to help them start to make meaningful decisions on what jobs are out there and what career pathways they should follow.”
“We are pleased to provide this excellent tool for job seekers to complement our existing Gateway career pathway tools including Apprenticeship Central and the Harrison Career Assessment,” Mr Miles said.
TAFE Queensland is the state’s largest, training provider delivering practical, industry-relevant training to more than 120,000 students each year.
TAFE Queensland CEO Jodi Schmidt said the CareerMe app was the first career exploration app of its kind on the market allowing job seekers to have information at their fingertips giving them an “expert” opinion on what career to pursue.
“CareerMe is great for students giving them instant access to career information. It’s easy for job seekers to check out the steps needed to get their dream job and it also provides information on what study they need to get there,” Ms Schmidt said.
“The app now has a direct feed of course information from TAFE Queensland so users can get instant access to the courses we offer that lead them to their career of choice.”
The app provides information on various industries and occupations including job descriptions, training requirements, training locations and what jobs are actually available.
The easy to use menu allows searching by industry for the occupation of the job seeker’s choice. Users can find out the average wage, number of workers currently employed in Australia and the educational requirements of an occupation.
The app even allows users to search for vacancies or training providers in their area. Current job vacancies are also linked to BUSY At Work’s Apprenticeship Central and Seek.
