Irrespective of how long you have been in the workforce or employed in your current job, you may still be eligible to undertake an Australian Apprenticeship or traineeship qualification.

Australian Apprenticeships and traineeships offer you the opportunity to upgrade your skills and knowledge, receive recognition for your industry experience, as well as gain a qualification that you can use anywhere in Australia.

Benefits of skilling through an apprenticeship or traineeship:

  • You receive both practical hands on and theoretical based training that has been developed specifically for your industry, by your industry.
  • You continue to earn an income while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
  • Your qualification is competency based, so you may be able to complete it sooner.
  • Your training can be delivered on-the-job (at work), off-the-job (at a college/campus), or a combination of both suiting you and your employers training requirements.
  • You and your employer not only get to choose the training provider, but you have input into what content is provided, where the training is delivered and when it is undertaken.
  • Your employer may be eligible to receive Australian Government incentives which can be used to cover the cost of your training.
  • Gives you the edge when seeking a promotion or seeking alternative future employment.
  • Receive formal recognition of your current skills and experience.
  • Ensures that you remain competitive in the employment market.

To increase the take up of Australian Apprenticeships and traineeships, the Australian and State Governments provide a range of financial incentives and assistance.
