Despite COVID, Jessie has turned her career path forward

While losing her job and income was a blow, Jessie had always wanted to be a hairdresser and in the past had completed a Certificate II Salon Assistant qualification. She decided now was the time to act.

Working in the café, Jessie had gotten to know the salon owner Sue Syson of Urban Fringe, a hairdressing salon close by. So she gathered up her nerves and asked Sue if she would consider putting her on as an apprentice.

Although Sue was looking to put on a qualified hairdresser, she admired Jessie’s customer service skills and her passion to pursue a career in the industry – she was definitely a stand out applicant and was offered the role!

BUSY At Work provided the apprenticeship sign up support for both Jessie and Sue, to ensure Jessie continues to thrive in the role and complete her qualification.

“BUSY At Work has assisted in giving me all the knowledge and information required to start and progress in this apprenticeship”, Jessie stated.

While 2020 has been a tumultuous year for many, it has also been an opportunity to re-evaluate opportunities and pivot where necessary. Just like Jessie who is now thriving in her dream career.
