There’s something special about the feeling of waking up every day and looking forward to going to work. It’s a feeling that Della had been missing, having been out of work for some time. But that all changed when she went to see the team at BUSY At Work.
As a provider of Workforce Australia Employment Services, BUSY At Work celebrates mature workers, like Della, helping them to identify transferable skills from their prior work (and life) experience and matching them with employers in the local community.
“We help our customers overcome their barriers, just through identifying what supports they need,” explains Liam Hill, a BUSY At Work Mentor.
When he met Della, Liam picked up on her positive attitude and customer service mindset straight away. So, when Ken Brown, the owner of Brown’s Bakery, came to BUSY At Work looking for a new employee, Liam knew Della would be a great fit.
Ken was confident that his strong relationship with BUSY At Work would lead to the perfect candidate for his business. When he was introduced to Della, he could tell she would fit in well with the other staff and the bakery’s customers.
“She’s pretty special, actually. Just such a lovely person,” he said.
In addition to helping her find a job, BUSY At Work also supplied Della with uniforms and shoes so she could work safely in the bakery.
“The team at BUSY At Work have to be one of the best teams I’ve worked with,” Della said. “They gave me the confidence to get back into work.
“If it wasn’t for BUSY At Work getting me this particular job, I don’t think I would be as happy.”
