Jesse graduates from the first R U BUSY? course for 2014

Jesse was one of the first people to graduate from the first R U BUSY? Program for 2014 recently. after re-locating from N.S.W and living independently on the Gold Coast for the past 6 months, Jesse struggled with reading and writing. Before moving Jesse had only completed year 8 level education and had been disengaged from education for nearly 4 years.

Since completing the R U BUSY? course he has now decided to enrol in a Certificate II in Hospitality (in which he will gain his RSA and RSG) and has plans to enrol straight into a Certificate III in Business as well as enrolling in a Diploma of Business in July 2014. When he first came onto the R U BUSY? Program his body language was negative and his confidence was very low, but now after having the Youth Project Officer help him with his reading and writing, as well as boosting his confidence and encouraging him to enrol in more certificates and education, he can’t get the smile off his face. Jesse has even gone as far to sign up to the library and hire a book – Jesse has now finished 4 chapters, something he never thought he could do. Rebbecca, Jesse’s Youth Support Officer, is proud of his accomplishments.

“When I first meet Jesse he couldn’t even look me in the eye but as the program progressed he even gave me pointers on how to de-stress and maintain a calm manner. Now after completing the Certificate II in Self Awareness, Jesse has made leaps and bounds and even talks to all BUSY At Work staff in the office. I’m really proud of all his achievements with his reading & writing and even prouder of how he thinks positive about himself and his positive attitude towards his life.”

Jesse was equally enthusiastic about the program.

“If it wasn’t for the R U BUSY? Program, I wouldn’t be in the position I am today. They have helped me so much and now my future is looking really bright.”
