About the position
The BUSY Schools Compliance and Risk Officer is primarily responsible for ensuring The BUSY Schools meets its compliance, risk and assurance obligations as determined by government, regulatory and school governing bodies. They will plan, develop, lead and implement a best practice compliance and operational risk management framework for the network of The BUSY Schools to support growth and maturity. This will include ensuring that all legal, regulatory and compliance aspects of the school network are appropriately structured and discharged, including the regular review and updating of policies, procedures and practices. The Compliance and Risk Officer will also drive a workplace culture that educates and supports staff towards an active, compliant learning environment for the entire school community.

The Compliance and Risk Officer will have experience in planning, developing and delivering Quality Management Systems in highly regulated environments. They will have knowledge of the Australian senior secondary schooling system and associated legislation, standards and regulations. Relationship management, leadership and people engagement will be key to the role to ensure a consultative approach with external and internal stakeholders of the school network.

About you

The successful candidate will possess:
  • Proven manager level experience in leading compliance and risk management activities in a complex school environment or similar highly regulated industry
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and maintenance of Quality Management Systems and the writing of related policies and procedures
  • Familiar with governance and processes in the schools or not-for-profit sector with an understanding of corporate structures and legal frameworks
  • An understanding of state and federal non-state school educational policy/legislation, regulation and accreditation standards/frameworks
