About The BUSY Schools
At The BUSY Schools, we offer Year 11 and 12 students an alternative learning solution and the opportunity to re-engage with education and complete school (their QCE) while getting a head start into employment.  

Students complete a personalised educational program, learn skills for life and have the opportunity to start paid employment and training while still at school.

The BUSY Schools are growing in the community and have campuses at Cairns, Salisbury, Shailer Park and Coolangatta.

The BUSY Schools is part of The BUSY Group, which presents 40 years as a community partner offering an extensive range of employment services, vocational training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.

About the position
Based in Coolangatta, you will be required to help support class teachers in the implementation of personalised learning practices, and where necessary identify and monitor students with learning difficulties via standardised testing and in consultation with staff, families and external supports.

The role will be required to re-engage students through building strong respectful relationships with a range of students while utilising behaviour management techniques to maintain the expectations of the classroom.

The ability to teach Year 11 and Year 12 Essential English, Essential Mathematics and Social Community Studies would be beneficial.

This is a full time, fixed term role until December 2022 with a possibility of extension.

About you…
  • A relevant teaching qualification
  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. Pre-service/graduate teachers must have been granted provisional registration prior to commencing employment.
  • You are a suitably qualified professional that is dedicated, hardworking and experienced in the classroom with disengaged students.
  • You will have experience with students with social-emotional challenges and have the ability to support in classrooms in either English or Maths.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of the senior school system and you will be passionate about facilitating and supporting student education pathways.
  • You have experience in developing Individual Education Plans (IEP) and Individual Learning Plans (ILP) or similar
