About The BUSY School
At The BUSY Schools, we offer Year 11 and 12 students an alternative learning solution and the opportunity to re-engage with education and complete school (their QCE) while getting a head start into employment.   
 
Students complete a personalised educational program, learn skills for life and have the opportunity to start paid employment and training while still at school.
 
The BUSY Schools are growing in the community and have campuses at Cairns, Salisbury, Shailer Park and Coolangatta. 
 
The BUSY Schools is part of The BUSY Group, which presents 40 years as a community partner offering an extensive range of employment services, vocational training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.
 
About the position
The BUSY School actively engages young people who have disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from mainstream schooling or other educational programs. The Teacher Aide role will support Teachers to maximise learning outcomes for young people who need significant adjustments and interventions to their learning program along with providing administrative support to the BUSY School.

This is a part time role until December 2022
 
In this role, you will:  

  • Work with young people individually or in small groups on activities to enhance the learning outcome, under the supervision of the teacher.
  • Provide assistance during class and scheduled activities, as required, to ensure maximum participation in programs
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching staff to create a weekly timetable that is compatible with The BUSY School requirements for identified individual young people

About you
The successful candidate will possess:

  • Minimum Certificate III or equivalent in relevant field of study
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with diverse groups (i.e. students, parents, employers, school personnel, training providers and government departments)
  • Previous experience in a similar role within youth support services and/or education sector 
  • Analytical and problem solving skills including the ability to conduct qualitative and quantitative research
