Jona finds a secure and promising career path, thanks to BUSY At Work!

Contracted by the Australian Government to deliver the jobactive program, a program to support eligible job seekers into employment, the BUSY At Work team at Noosaville got ‘busy’ and started referring Jona for similar positions in hospitality. It soon became clear that this was not the best strategy as the hospitality industry in the region was still struggling to get back to normal.

Jona’s employment consultant at BUSY At Work then worked with Jona to explore other options, including re-skilling for a new career pathway that could offer more security.

One of the options interested Jona and that was undertaking a Certificate III in Individual Support Aged & Disability Care which could then lead to work in aged care and disability support. The industry could offer Jona longevity, as well as flexible hours that would allow her to care for her two children.

Jona commenced her qualification with Registered Training Organisation, Steps Australia, and the training was fully-funded under the jobactive program through BUSY At Work.

With the Aged Care sector experiencing skills shortages and needing staff, it wasn’t long before Jona secured work as a Personal Carer with Blue Care in Noosa, providing in-home respite care for their clients. BUSY At Work, through the jobactive program, were also able to support Jona further with costs for First Aid and CPR Training, Blue Card, Yellow Card (required for the industry), work-related clothing including Jona’s Blue Care uniform costs and fuel assistance when Jona had first commenced in the role.

“BUSY At Work provided a good system for me to be able to get me a job that suits me. They assisted my needs, answered my questions and helped me to start work.

“I work at Blue Care Noosa and I enjoy the job, and this is because of BUSY At Work. With all the support they provided I am able to work now and earn”, Jona said.

Managing Director for BUSY At Work said “The jobactive program offers excellent support for eligible jobseekers like Jona, providing the means to be able to support her to change career pathways through reskilling and to find secure, ongoing employment. We wish Jona all the best in her new career pathway!”

With a qualification under her belt, Jona is now working and able to support her young family and is looking forward to a secure career path in the aged and disability care industry.
