BUSY continues strong partnership with The Bonelli Group

The Bonelli Group employees L-R Grant Wainohu (Certificate III Civil Construction - Plant Operations) Anthony Allman (Certificate III Civil construction - Pipe Laying) and Stephen Ryan (Certificate III Civil Construction - Plant Operations) have all been

BUSY At Work’s partnership with The Bonelli Group continues to reach new heights with 21 apprentices and trainees having being signed up with the Caboolture based plant hire and civil construction company since June last year.

BUSY At Work Industry Training Consultant, Megan Barkle said BUSY had entered into a working partnership with The Bonelli Group and the partnership had gone from strength to strength.

“The Bonelli Group approached us last year with a view to boost their skilled employee numbers and ensure all employees at the company were appropriately ticketed and qualified.”

“We were able to provide them with the relevant information regarding Australian Apprenticeships and the Government Incentive Program’s available and as a result Bonelli were able to significantly increase their uptake of apprenticeships within their business through the support of BUSY At Work,” Ms Barkle said.

Training Manager The Bonelli Group, John Bell said since last June the company had worked hard to significantly increase the number of apprentices as well as ensure there was a minimum standard for plant operators and construction employees.

This has led to a significant increase in skilled employee numbers and created a wealth of new skilled workers ready to progress further through the company.

“We put in place a minimum standard for our entire construction workforce that if they didn’t hold a Certificate III in Civil Construction they would be working towards one.”

“We had a lot of plant operators in the company who hadn’t done any sort of training since they left school in the early 1970’s. While some were initially sceptical as to whether they might learn anything new they have all embraced the training and upgraded their skills base at the same time,” Mr Bell said.

John said all of the new apprentices sourced through BUSY At Work had undertaken or were currently undertaking one of three Civil Construction Certificates – Certificate III Civil Construction – Plant Operations, Certificate III Civil Construction – Pipe Laying or a Certificate III Civil Construction – Road Construction and Maintenance.

“We are keen to develop a highly qualified and trained workforce who are up to date with the current health, safety and environmental work practices. This will also act as a point of differentiation when we tender for new work projects,” Mr Bell said.

John said The Bonelli Group were pleased to team up with BUSY At Work to support trainees and apprentices in achieving their career goals.

“The support we have received from BUSY At Work has been excellent particularly in the transition from a paper based system to the new electronic system with the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) contracts. We look forward to continuing to partner with BUSY to meet the needs of our business,” Mr Bell said.

One recent signing through BUSY At Work is Anthony Allman who is in the final stages of completing his Certificate III Civil Construction – Pipe Laying.

“Thanks to BUSY At Work I’ve been able to keep up to date with all my paperwork and I’m looking forward to completing my certificate in the next two months,” Mr Allman said.

BUSY At Work CEO, Paul Miles said BUSY was pleased to partner with The Bonelli Group to help new trainees and apprentices gain employment in the construction business.

“At BUSY we are excited to continue to play a key role in growing Australian Apprenticeships. We are delighted that The Bonelli Group have been able to significantly increase their uptake of apprenticeships and provide rewarding careers with the company,” Mr Miles said.
