Nominations for 2013 Australian Training Awards now open

Nominations are now open for the Australian Training Awards, the peak national awards for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, recognising training providers, organisations and individuals for their contribution to skilling Australia.

There are 18 award categories presented at the Australian Training Awards including Employer of the Year, Small and Large Training Providers of the Year and the National Focus Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award.

The Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award recognises employers who have made innovative improvements in training apprentices and/or trainees in Australia, improving their outcomes through programs that address one or more factors.

These include lifting foundation skills levels, increasing productivity by better use of knowledge or technology, and improving retention and completion rates of Australian Apprentices, among other factors.

Applications for the 2013 National Focus categories are now open, with the winners to be recognised at the Australian Training Awards in Perth on November 22 2013.

Research conducted on past Australian Training Awards winners and finalists found that national recognition for business is a great way to increase publicity, local recognition and build status at the “best-of-the-best” when it come to national training practices.

“It’s an amazing honour to be recognised for our efforts. In the future, we aim to further improve our training strategies, take on more apprentices and continue striving to be an employer of choice,” said Dardanup Butchering Company’s Crystal Potter, 2011 Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award winner.

Applications close May 31 – so make sure to get your applications in quick!
