Piper Tindall grew up always giving and taking care of those around her, so it’s only fitting that she has now commenced a full-time role as a childcare worker!
The 18-year-old from Buderim, Queensland always had lots of family in her life from a young age.
“Growing up, we had a lot of foster kids around, there was always a lot of family. It was very interesting, to say the least. I was 13 and they were all 15 and older. I learnt a lot from them, I spent most of my time sitting back and watching what they were doing,” Piper recalled.
Once she turned 18, Piper went to BUSY At Work where she has been a participant of Transition to Work, a government initiative that helps disadvantaged youth find education and job opportunities.
“Teneal at BUSY’s Maroochydore office referred me to a bunch of different courses, and I really liked childcare and found that was the right one for me,” Piper said. “I’ve had a lot of different interests come up, but I’ve always worked well with kids and I love kids. Then when I studied it, I realised it’s perfect for me.”
Piper has found the Transition to Work program a wonderful asset to her life. “It has been great to speak to the staff about everything that comes up in my life. It’s like having a counsellor almost. They’re very loving and comfortable,” she said. “I try to come in every two weeks, touch base on the phone, and have a face to face contact.”
Paul Miles, Managing Director of BUSY At Work, says the Transition to Work program is a wonderful program for Australia’s youth to turn to for guidance and help finding educational courses and fantastic careers.
“It’s great to see young people like Piper flourish as they find what they want to do in their life and embark on their careers. To be a part of their journey is very rewarding for all of us at BUSY. If you are looking for help, please don’t hesitate to contact us today to get started.”
