Juggling full-time work while raising her family, Rashmin was determined to set a positive example for her children. She wanted them to see that, with persistence and support, dreams are possible no matter where you come from.
Rashmin’s passion for teaching began years ago when she taught primary school children in her home country. After migrating to Australia, she worked for seven years as an Assistant in Nursing in aged care. Although fulfilling, she always felt a strong pull toward education. That calling became clear when she visited a childcare centre for her daughter. Seeing the genuine care, warmth and impact educators have on young children deeply moved her and she realised it was her true path.
This inspired her to apply for the Early Childhood scholarship which, to her delight, she was successful in gaining.
“The scholarship has been life-changing and removed a huge financial burden, allowing me to focus on my studies without constant anxiety about expenses, childcare costs, textbooks, transport, and reduced working hours during placements.”
With mentoring and encouragement from lecturers and placement teams, Rashmin successfully completed her final placement and transitioned confidently into the workforce.
Recently Rashmin has started working full-time as an Early Childhood Teacher with a highly respected organisation, something she is incredibly proud of.
Looking ahead, Rashmin is considering further study through a Master of Teaching, with long-term aspirations that may include leadership roles, professional education, advocacy, or even a future PhD.
Through her experience, Rashmin believes the scholarship not only empowers women, parents, migrants, and mature-aged students to rise, contribute and lead, it makes a lasting difference and impact to communities.
