Family owned business JWB Construction know the value of employing apprentices and how they can help strengthen a business.
As one of Logan city’s largest employers with nearly 100 staff, the company is continuing to grow and provide secure employment for their expanding workforce.
BUSY At Work Industry Training Consultant, Emma Nolan said BUSY has built up a strong working relationship with the company.
“We have been working with JWB Construction since 2016 in supporting apprentices and providing a one stop service for all their apprenticeship and recruitment needs.”
“Together with AQ Training, we have been able to provide them with relevant information regarding Australian Apprenticeships and what incentives are available through the Australian Government and as a result JWB Construction has signed up 30 apprentices through BUSY At Work during the past 18 months,” Ms Nolan said.
JWB Construction CEO, Danny Bakos said the company had gone from strength to strength since operations began in December 2012.
“We are a rail maintenance and construction company and we are proud that we have recently been recognised by the Logan City Council as a large employer in this region.”
Danny said many of the new apprentices recruited through BUSY At Work had undertaken or were currently undertaking a Certificate III Civil Construction – Plant Operations, or a Certificate III Civil Construction – Road Construction and Maintenance.
“As a growing company, through our apprenticeship program and continuous upskilling of our workforce, we aim to create a committed and highly trained workforce that has both the credentials and the resources to complete any size rail project in its entirety.”
“Whilst meeting all our compliances as a contractor, a considerable amount of effort is committed on a daily basis to ensuring our skilled tradesman and experienced management team are able to deliver the best quality in rail workmanship,” Mr Bakos said.
Danny said JWB Construction was pleased to team up with BUSY At Work to support apprentices in achieving their career goals.
“We have a strong working partnership with BUSY At Work and our major training provider AQ Training, and we are delighted that we have been able to significantly increase our intake of apprenticeships within our business.”
“The support we have received from BUSY At Work has been excellent. There are a number of apprentices we have signed up through BUSY who have completed their time as well as a number still at various stages. We are looking forward to continuing to partner with BUSY to meet our employment needs,” Mr Bakos said.
AQ Training Manager, Russell French said it was great to see young people being given the chance to build careers in the construction industry.
“As a Registered Training Provider in earthmoving operations we are pleased to work with BUSY At Work and JWB Construction in training young people for apprenticeships that can lead to rewarding careers in the construction industry,” Mr French said.
