Strength in part-time employment growth continues

Labour force figures released yesterday show unemployment is down citing continued growth in part-time employment. Over the past six months there has been an increase of 82,600 people working part-time, compared with a 21,600 decrease in those working full-time.

Apprentice numbers fall while new tradies steady

Labour force figures released yesterday by Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show that seasonally adjusted employment increased by 17,900 in May, to stand at a record high of 11,930,700, and is now 224,800 (or 1.9 per cent) higher than the level recorded a year ago and above the decade average rate, of 1.7 per cent.

Employment growth in Australia continues to ease

April Labour force figures released today by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show trend employment growth continues to ease from the relatively strong growth that we saw in late 2015. Employment increased by only 4,100 in April 2016 to now stand at 11,910,800.
