Electricity distributor Energex recently took on a further 22 apprentices in Queensland, with Energy Minister Mark Bailey praising the move.
The Australian Apprenticeships – Employer Award recognises those employers who have made innovative improvements in training which benefit the outcomes for their apprentices and/or trainees in Australia.

Construction jobs in Queensland are set to benefit from the National Highway Upgrade Programme, with several large-scale projects planned in the state.

As a great way to get that important foot in the door and launch a career, it is no wonder why apprenticeships are in such high demand. Every year, scores of young people across the country vie for a handful of these positions, and the competition doesn’t look like waning any time soon.

It is often said that when hiring employees, intangible qualities are just as important as technical skills, experience and qualifications – if not more so. Skills can always be taught, but inherent traits such as personality and attitude are harder to foster.
Six participants celebrated with their families yesterday as they proudly graduated in a 12 week pre-employment course (R U BUSY?) delivered at the Busy Beat Hub, Southport.

On April 4, Minister for the Commonwealth Games Kate Jones spoke of the excitement building up towards the event at an official ‘Three Years to Go’ countdown celebration at Broadbeach. She said that with a range of projects already having been planned, the state will certainly be kept busy and “three years will go by in a flash”.

BUSY At Work is continuing to build on its already strong partnership with the Sunshine Coast Technical Trade Training Centre (SCTTTC).
