Research reveals: Carpentry top job

Carpentry is one of the most in top demand professions.

Whether you’re a student considering a school-based apprenticeship or an adult planning a career change, it might be worth taking a look at the most in demand jobs at the moment.

In increasingly uncertain economic times, job stability is becoming more important, therefore it is a good idea to consider a career that has an undersupply of skilled workers rather than an oversupply.

A recent survey from employment website SEEK revealed which professions are in hot demand and the results favoured those in manual trades, Fairfax reported.

Carpentry led the pack, with job advertisements for the trade up by 54 per cent in July – the fastest increase in demand.

Following in second place was kitchen and sandwich hands, which showed a rise in ads by 35 per cent.

Air conditioning and refrigerator mechanics came in at number three with an increase of 31 per cent, followed by financial planners at 30 per cent and superannuation consultants up by 29 per cent.

Peter Osborne, SEEK trade marketing manager, said the figures were a fairly accurate indicator of the nation’s job market, with July being the time of year when businesses take on new work.

The results reflect job growth across 28 sectors and approximately 400 different positions.
