GirlPower Joins 1000 Voices
GirlPower is a support group of women with intellectual and learning disabilities. They encourage and support women with disabilities to access information on health, foster supportive relationships, and enable participation in community events.

Queensland’s Key Growth Industries
While Queensland’s Environmental Mining Technologies and Services employs over 12,500 people, the CSG to LNG industry is expected to create 6000 new jobs through future projects. How companies will meet the growing demand for qualified staff will be challenging through these industry developments.

Australian Apprenticeship Alliance
No one single Apprenticeship Centre is able to provide services across Australia which often makes it frustrating for businesses that run on a national scale. The Australian Apprenticeship Alliance was formed as a solution to this problem. With the joining of Australian Apprenticeship Centres in each state and territory the Alliance provides employers with an Australia wide service.

Indigenous Employment and Training
While disparity in the workplace between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian’s is on the decline, statistics indicate significant inequalities continue to exist in both the workforce and society. In “Positive Dreaming, Solid Futures” by the Queensland Government, the unemployment rate for Indigenous Australians was found to be nearly three times higher than the rest of the population.

Jackie Taylor Gets BUSY For Work
Participant Jackie Taylor has gone from strength to strength after taking part in the course in 2011. Since completing the course Jackie has secured permanent part-time employment in a local Café and is continuing to extend her skills and knowledge training in hospitality.
