According to a March 7 release from The Australian, Ms Ley revealed the plan to shift career advice in school towards apprenticeships and trades-based training in a keynote address to TAFE Directors Australia on March 5.

Published on March 6 by the Property Council of Australia (PCA), the research predicts the construction sector will require an additional 45,000 workers over the next three years, which is encouraging news for those seeking relevant apprenticeships in Queensland.

While our industry is facing challenges, our team at BUSY are embracing these changes.
Since the changes to the existing workers funding took place, BUSY has continued to build business. Through our promotion of traditional trades we have seen a significant increase in new apprenticeships and traineeships for electrical and traditional construction trades. At BUSY we take great pride in consistently providing an experienced team of field and service delivery staff, who have a full understanding of the needs of employers, RTO’s and other key stakeholders.
It is through our understanding of stakeholder needs that we have chosen to explore further options in providing alternative access to information and resources for the training and employment sector.
We are excited to introduce the new innovative free iPhone app, Career Hunter. BUSY is very proud to promote and provide a unique career exploration resource to the training industry.
Career Hunter is a quick reference point for students, parents and teachers wishing to explore employment opportunities and pathways. It is one of the most intuitive and innovative apps as well as being the first career exploration tool of its kind on the market. The app covers 19 major industries. Career Hunter collates information on various occupations including job descriptions, industry profiles, top jobs and skill shortages, average wages, training requirements and locations plus available jobs which you can access anywhere, anytime.
One of the greatest challenges in this industry is to give clear and simple information to school leavers, and this is what Career Hunter achieves. The app provides alternative career paths for you to share with your students and we encourage you to download it from the App Store and become familiar with this valuable and easy to use resource.

Individuals, employers and organisations have until March 21 to put forward the names of the apprentices, trainees, students, employers and businesses leading their industries in regards to apprenticeships and traineeships in Queensland.

Offering apprenticeships and traineeships in Queensland is an important step forward in improving the economy, reducing the youth unemployment rate and supporting Indigenous employment.

Figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics show dwelling approvals across Australia rose by 1.3 per cent in January this year. Queensland approvals experienced an above average growth – climbing by 2.6 per cent over the same period.

The first round of funding originated from a $35.5 billion investment from the federal government to support infrastructure developments across Australia. This commitment was announced as part of the Land Transport Infrastructure Bill, released by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss on February 28.

More new jobs have been created in Queensland than in any other state, Treasurer Tim Nicholls revealed in a March 13 media release. This is encouraging for those considering apprenticeships and traineeships in Queensland, as a rise in new jobs means employers are seeking talented workers.
