According to Deloitte’s Agribusiness Bulletin, a growing demand for food exports from major economies such as China puts Australia’s farmers and other related businesses in a good position for the future.

Employed by OSMAC Group Training, the fourth year apprentice has been recently selected to represent Queensland at the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition in Melbourne from 6 – 8 October. WorldSkills is the largest trades and skills showcase in the country and this year nearly 500 young apprentices, trainees and students from all corners of Australia will compete in 50 categories for the coveted title of “National Champion”.
Its hard to believe that in February this year the grounds at the Mackay Regional Football Park used for junior soccer were in a very poor state and in need of community support. Six months on the grounds have undergone a major transformation as a result of assistance received through the participants of the Mackay Regional Football Zone (MRFZ) Work for the Dole Project.

Twenty year old Jacob Llewellyn knows what its like to be out of job and what it can do for your self confidence. The former Lowood State High School student had been unemployed for two years before he had the opportunity to take part in an exciting new program BUSY At Work is delivering with Careers Australia.

Scheduled for October 25-6 and hosted at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, the Queensland Infrastructure Projects Conference will see key figures in the industry outline how infrastructure development will continue to evolve across Queensland. It’s an event that’s expected to generate excitement around apprenticeship opportunities and showcase the developments that Queenslanders can look forward to in the near future.

Labour force figures released yesterday show unemployment is down citing continued growth in part-time employment. Over the past six months there has been an increase of 82,600 people working part-time, compared with a 21,600 decrease in those working full-time.

We often talk about different industries and sectors as though they all exists in their own worlds, forgetting the different ways they all influence each other. For example, those working mining apprenticeships in Queensland are also building career opportunities for people in other industries as well.

With fossil fuels being a limited resource, it’s reasonable that a sector based around consuming oil in various forms would have to find an alternative. The rise in petrol-electric hybrids over the past few years is the beginning, but some manufacturers are anticipating – or kickstarting – a move to fully electric vehicles.

Jeremy Sinn is an enthusiastic and dedicated young man who has recently landed a full time job as a car detailer with Kingaroy based company, Bill Hull Car Centre. A former Maryborough State High School student, Jeremy was always keen to move into the workforce but wasnt sure of what pathway to take to help him achieve his goal.
